How can I not tempted during Christmas ?
Posted: November 25, 2007It is just a month or less away from Christmas. I was suppressing my buying mood. The advertisements are too tempting. Every single corner that you turn to, maybe except in your room, you will see a distinctive advertisements, brochures, radio, TV or internet advertisement flashing at you. This is how marketers trying to get our 5 senses to activate so that we will act - that is to buy something.
Christmas log cake, Christmas party and decorations, Christmas party new clothing, gowns or shoes, Christmas presents. If the adults is tempted, how about the children.
Just a few days ago, there was a mailer, from a large shopping centre, dropped into our letter box. Sammi got hold of it when she saw that big brochures with the pictures of all toys. In this brochure, all they target at were toys for children and adults. Toys from Mattel ( Barbie and Island Princess), Hasboro(My Little Pony, Transformer),Saniro (Hello Kitty), Lego(Bionicle) etc. Adults love to have toys too! like Wii, Nintando DS Lite, XBox360, Sony PSP etc.
The ATM exchange linking all the credit cards worldwide must be franticaly working non-stop. In this IT world, we just could not afford to have this ATM exchange failed or else all our transaction will stop or be gone! Sometimes, I do hope that in the bid to stop me from spending during Christmas, the ATM exchange will to be done for 1 month so that I will seriously reconsider if I have to count my notes and make payment at the cashier. It is more obvious and painful when you pay cash then to pay by credit card.
However, some may say “It ’s a once in a year splurging. Why be so stingy ? !” Well. I cannot say if this is really once a year. Once your shopping spree kicks in, the effects and reasons to buy and buy just cannot be stopped. After Thanksgiving, there is Christmas, then after Christmas you have the post Christmas and New Year Sale. Then you have the Post Ne Year Sale and some 1 month later there are all the birthdays and Valentine’s Day. Each month of the year, there is a reason to spent.
As for me, I am still holding onto my purse string and pray that the temptation to spent will be gone sooner.
