I did not survive in IPP

My phone rang in the middle of my meeting. My daughter called me excitedly regarding about her IPP exercises in the school. It is a civil defense exercise conducted in school to help primary school children to prepare for emergency in the event of a alien terrorist attack.

The first sentence she mentioned was “Our class did not survive ! The poisonous gas came into the classroom. The teacher forgets to seal the tallest window opening!” As her voice beamed through the earpiece, I cannot help imaging what is her action on the other end of the phone as she speaks to me. I spoke to her briefly and asked how she felt since she has to be in the class for 2 solid hours without going to toilet. She said she did not feel the urgency to do so.

Later during the evening, when my hubby and I were on the way home in our car. I asked if my hubby had received any call from our daughter. He said yes. She was narrating the full story to him and added more information that I did not received from her. Apparently one of the boys cannot pee without the normal toilet and he peeped on his pants. Another one peeped into the waste paper bin (which is make as a make-shift trashed bag).

Well, my daughter narrated the same story when she is back at home to her grandfather. I guessed she must have been a adventurous day. However, I wonder how the teacher and the helpers had felt- managing all these kids in that hot and stuffy classroom and confined within it for 2 solid hours. It is definitely not easy to be a school teacher nowadays. To be able to teach, to also act as safety educators and also to take care of their hygiene needs !
