Manna from Heaven
Posted: March 24, 2008Manna in the Old Testament was the daily bread from the Lord. And it came in the form of “small round substance.”
Our Manna today is the Word of God. But in the book of John, Jesus says that He is the true manna.
John 6 :32-35
…” Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world…. I am the bread of life….
So Jesus is ” the bread of life”. He is the true manna, ” true bread from heaven”. In other words, the Word of God which we are to receive every day is not just the Word of God, but the Word of Christ.
Many believers say, ” Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.” They are quoting from Romans 10 :17. But in the original Greek text, that verse actually says, ” Faith comes by hearing the Word of Christ.” It is Christos (Christ) here and not Theos (God). It is Word of Christ. It is a revelation of Jesus Christ. So everytime you hear about the person of Jesus, everytime you get a revelation of Him in the Word, it is your manna from heaven
